DONATE

Donating is the best way to support us.  Please consider DONATING  your items if you don’t especially need to sell. Bookstores won’t be around forever, and every donation helps us stay in business longer. Books we can’t use are re-donated for charitable purposes as we find need. To schedule a free donation pick-up in LA County, use Re-Bookit!  You can also drop your donations off at the store during open hours 11am - 8pm.

BUY/SELL/TRADE BOOKS, CDS, AND DVDS

OUR BOOK BUY COUNTER IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR IN-STORE BUYING DUE TO COVID-19, LOW FUNDS AND NOT ENOUGH STAFF TO MAN IT.  WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO DONATE IF YOU ARE ABLE.  IF YOU HAVE GREAT BOOKS AND WANT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SELL AT OUR WAREHOUSE OR VIA HOUSECALL, PLEASE EMAIL US.

Although we are not buying much right now, under normal circumstances we buy more books than anyone else in southern CA! We don’t buy everything and are quite selective but will consider all good books and records in very good or better condition.  We buy based on our inventory needs, which can change day to day.

Buy Counter Hours:  NONE at present.  Email us HERE if you have things we can't pass up and we'll meet you by appointment.

How it works:  Bring your items to our Buy counter from the Spring St. back entrance.  First come, first serve, but you’ll rarely wait more than 20 minutes. If you have more than 500 items (20 boxes), please Request a Home Visit.  Include with your email at least 10 photos representative of your collection, with 10-15 clearly legible spines in each photo.  And a phone number.

Please note we only purchase books from smoke-free environments.

If bringing your items in, it’s best to park near and enter through the 453 S Spring St entrance. If you come in the 5th St entrance with items to sell, the guard will ask you to go outside and around to the Sellers entrance on Spring St. We have a hand-truck you can borrow. An ID is required to sell items. No appointment needed; wait times are rarely more than 20 minutes.

After evaluating your items, we’ll make you a CASH and a TRADE offer. Our CASH offer will be 20-50% of what we can re-sell your items for. For common everyday books, that is usually $1-3 each. For current textbooks, collectible books, recently published books, and others we are more likely to pay quite a bit more.

Our TRADE offer of store credit will usually be 50% more than the Cash offer and is good for books only. You are welcome to donate any items we make no offer for if space is available.

We much prefer if you bring your items in when the Buy counter is open but if you must drop your items off after 6pm (or if you have too many books for us to go through quickly), you can sign a drop-off agreement and we’ll look at them within a day and give you a call with our offer.
